Right outside the ticket gates of Keihan Kyobashi Station, a Japanese sweet making its Kansai debut will appear for just four days. “Tokyo Age Dorayaki”, made by frying dough shaped like a dorayaki (a pancake sandwich with sweet filling), is coming to Kansai for the first time. It will open as a limited-time shop inside Kyobashi Station on the Keihan Line for four days, from Tuesday, October 13 to Friday, October 16, 2026. It is run by R Baker, which handles the cafe-bakery business of the Eat& group.
The idea of frying a dorayaki
Tokyo Age Dorayaki looks just like the familiar dorayaki. But it combines confectionery techniques with frying techniques, wrapping sweet fillings in fragrant dough fried in rice oil. R Baker, which runs it, is a bakery brand with the motto “Bread that is good for body and soul”. It chose domestic rice flour as its main ingredient, as a way to help raise Japan’s food self-sufficiency rate, and blends it with its own original method to make bread with a chewy, moist texture.

This shop is positioned as the first franchise store, with its production base in Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture. Frozen dough made at a central kitchen in Yamanashi is thawed in store, shaped and fried — a simple process that means a shop can open in about 8 tsubo (a Japanese unit of floor area), including production and sales space.
The new signature item: “Meibutsu Kinako Mamire”
The star at Kyobashi is the new “Meibutsu Kinako Mamire” (Signature Kinako-Covered). It is a new take on “Agedora Kinako Mochi”, which was popular at the company-run test shop in Soshigaya-Okura, Tokyo: stretchy mochi (rice cake) and rich anko (sweet red bean paste), generously wrapped in fragrant kinako.

The shop is just outside the Central Ticket Gate of Keihan Kyobashi Station. It is open from 13:00 to 22:00 and closes when sold out. Being right outside the Keihan gates, it is easy to stop by while changing trains.
Next stop Tenmabashi, with more Kansai locations to follow
Starting with Kyobashi, R Baker plans to open in turn at station shops and department store event spaces across Kansai. Next, it is confirmed to appear at SWEET BOX Keihan Tenmabashi from Thursday, November 5 to Wednesday, November 11. Future locations will be announced on the R Baker website. Even if you miss the four days at Kyobashi, you will have another chance at Tenmabashi in November.
