Taste a perfume’s “scent” as sweets at a hotel in Umeda. The Ritz-Carlton, Osaka is launching an afternoon tea in collaboration with Britain’s Burberry Beauty at The Lobby Lounge on the first floor. It comes in two seasonal versions: “Autumn” from Thursday, October 15 to Thursday, November 12, 2026, and “Christmas” from Friday, November 13 to Sunday, December 27.
Themed on a new fragrance released in September
The theme is “Burberry Goddess Amber Vanilla Eau de Parfum Intense”, released just on September 23. It is the first perfume in the “Burberry Goddess” collection to feature roasted vanilla. It is said to open with lavender and maple syrup, pass through four kinds of vanilla and settle into a lingering note of amber.
With vanilla at the core, the chefs expressed the images of lavender and amber using autumn and winter ingredients such as chestnut, hazelnut, maple and apple.
From Mont Blanc to truffle quiche
The six sweets were created by Executive Pastry Chef Frederic Moreau. Along with a “Hazelnut and cocoa cookie with white coffee mousse” decorated with the Burberry logo, there is a “Chestnut Mont Blanc with vanilla Chantilly”, a “Pistachio mousse with cassis and strawberry jelly”, a “Smooth dark chocolate mousse with maple panna cotta”, a “Caramel custard with cinnamon-scented apple compote” and a fruit cake.
There are two kinds of scones, caramelized white chocolate and plain, served with lavender-scented lemon curd and clotted cream — a fun touch that brings the perfume’s lavender in here too. Refills are brought to your table still warm, and you can order as many as you like.
The four savories are by Banquet Chef Yasuhiro Katayama: a smoked salmon and cucumber sandwich on rye bread, a salad of steamed abalone and lily bulb, sweet potato mousse with orange-scented smoked duck, and a truffle-scented quiche.
A plan that includes a mini perfume sample
There are three plans. Besides the basic plan, you can choose one that comes with a miniature sample (5 mL) of a perfume from the “Burberry Goddess Collection”, or “The Ritz-Carlton Signature Afternoon Tea”, which includes a glass of champagne and macarons to take home.
During the period, a photo spot decorated with the perfume will also appear in the lounge. The Lobby Lounge is designed in 18th-century English Georgian style, and the hotel holds about 450 paintings and works of art, mainly from the 18th and 19th centuries. With live piano music as well, it looks well suited to celebrating a special occasion during the Christmas season.
