A new home for sparkling, melt-in-your-mouth caramel is coming to the basement of Umeda. Morozoff, the Kobe-based confectionery maker, will open “Caramelion,” a new brand built around caramel, on Wednesday, November 18, 2026, on the B1 floor of Hanshin Umeda Main Store in Osaka. It is the brand’s first permanent shop in Japan, and Morozoff says it hopes to offer it as a “new Osaka specialty.”
Healing caramel sweets under the starlight, with a lion as the mascot
The brand’s theme is “sparkling, melting — healing caramel sweets.” Just as starlight, with each tiny star shining, soothes the heart, the sweets are meant to give a relaxing moment in which your heart melts. The name comes from the lion “Caramelion,” with its glittering mane, who invites you to a sweet, fragrant moment.
The signature: caramel sandwiched between fragrant sablés
The shop’s specialty is “Caramelion (sparkling, melting caramel sandwich).” Sablé cookies are baked until fragrant and sandwich soft, melting caramel. The appeal lies in the pairing of butter-scented sablé with rich caramel.
The lineup also covers fresh cakes, puddings and baked sweets.
- Caramel Melty Cake: a fresh gâteau of sponge cake and raspberry sauce layered with bittersweet caramelized almonds on a mane-shaped sablé, finished with crème chantilly and caramel sauce (2 pieces, ¥1,080)
- Caramel Espresso Pudding: caramel pudding topped with salted caramel glaze, paired with espresso sauce and crème chantilly (2 pieces, ¥1,080)
- Caramel Fondant Gâteau (Fig): a seasonal item. Petit gâteau mixed with figs for autumn and winter, topped with caramel fondant (4 pieces, ¥1,080)
Baked sweets and assortments that suit a gift
There are also baked sweets that are easy to carry home. “Caramel Amber Galette” is a thick-baked galette Bretonne scented with caramel and butter, with a hint of salt that brings out the richness. “Caramel Rich Pie” is a thick puff pastry baked with plenty of caramel on top, with a crisp, crunchy texture.
“Caramelion Assortment” comes in three sizes: 24 pieces (¥5,400), 16 pieces (¥3,240) and 11 pieces (¥2,160). The 24-piece box contains 6 Caramelion, 8 Caramel Amber Galette, 6 Caramel Rich Pie and 4 Caramel Fondant Gâteau (Fig). All prices include tax.
