A shelf of CDs and DVDs to browse while you shop in Sakai is coming back. HMV, the music and video specialist, opens its new “HMV LaLaport Sakai” store on the 3rd floor of LaLaport Sakai in Mihara-ku, Sakai, Osaka, on Tuesday, November 17, 2026.
A community-minded HMV for families
The store is run by Lawson Entertainment. It aims to be a neighborhood store that welcomes all generations, especially families. It will carry music and video software such as CDs and DVDs and entertainment merchandise, and for the first time it will also sell new trading cards. That means more than music and film, with something for card-loving kids and families too.
Artists and TV personalities are planned to appear in the LaLaport Sakai event space for events, mini live shows, autograph sessions and talk shows. A schedule will be announced on the store page and official social media. Live events inside a shopping mall are something only a real store can offer.
Opening campaigns with a Sakai flavor
First, an original tenugui (Japanese hand towel) is given to the first customers who spend ¥3,000 (tax included) or more in store. Tenugui are a specialty of Sakai, and you can choose from two designs. It starts on Tuesday, November 17 and ends when supplies run out.
Second is the “kofun omikuji.” Inspired by Sakai, the city of kofun (ancient burial mounds) and home to the World Heritage Mozu-Furuichi Kofun Group, it is open to anyone who visits. Prizes include coupons usable at HMV LaLaport Sakai. It also starts on Tuesday, November 17 and ends when supplies run out. The image is a sample.
Third is a prize draw on X: follow the official HMV account (@HMV_Japan) and repost the designated post for a chance to win a gift. Details will be announced on HMV’s X account in early November.
EBiDAN OSAKA mini live for the opening event
EBiDAN OSAKA will perform a mini live and hold a special-perks session as the opening event, on Sunday, November 22, 2026 from 13:00 at Fansta XROSS STADIUM in LaLaport Sakai. How to take part will be announced on the store page and X as soon as it is decided.
