Autumn gift hunting just got a new candidate on the picture-book shelf. From Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (a national holiday), Tsutaya Books will sell a limited set containing all three volumes of the Hermès Picture Books series in an original sleeve. Many stores in Kansai carry it: Kyoto Okazaki, Kyoto, Umeda, Hirakata, Nara, and the Tsutaya Books Wakayama City Library.

The set celebrates the release of the third book in the series, “Hermès Picture Book: Bouken Stitch,” on Thursday, October 29. It packs the new book together with the two earlier volumes, “Osanpo Stitch” and “Kurukuru to Stitch,” in one original sleeve. The price is ¥8,690 (tax included), and it is suggested both for yourself and as a gift for someone special.
The sleeve is brown paper with the series title and “100%ORANGE” printed in orange. Through a round cut-out window peek the dog Stitch and a human figure. Picking it up in a bookshop, the picture-book world seems to begin before you even open the cover.
A harness-maker and a dog named Stitch, meeting through making things
“Hermès Picture Books” is a series illustrated by 100%ORANGE. Its heroes are an older craftsman who makes equipment for horses and his dog, Stitch, and the stories convey the encounters and joy that come from making things. The cloth-bound covers that are pleasant to touch and the small surprise at the end of each story are said to carry the craftsmanship Hermès has valued since its founding in 1837.
The newest book, “Bouken Stitch,” is 32 pages in a modified A4 format and costs ¥3,190 (tax included). Binding design is by 名久井直子 and the publisher is Kodansha, the same for all three books. “Kurukuru to Stitch” costs ¥2,860 (tax included; released October 28, 2024) and “Osanpo Stitch” ¥2,640 (tax included; released November 24, 2022). Lined up together, the three show four years of the series.
Where to buy, and how
The set is sold at Tsutaya Books stores across Japan. In Kansai the participating stores are Kyoto Okazaki Tsutaya Books, Kyoto Tsutaya Books, Umeda Tsutaya Books, Hirakata Tsutaya Books, Nara Tsutaya Books, and Tsutaya Books Wakayama City Library. At Umeda it is easy to drop in after work or shopping. It also suits anyone who wants to choose early for Christmas or a celebration.
