CHEF de BEAUTÉ pop-up returns to JR Kyoto Isetan, right at Kyoto Station, Nov 4–10 — custom hand cream and AI skin analysis

Create your own hand cream in a department store connected directly to Kyoto Station. CHEF de BEAUTÉ, the skincare brand from Osaka-based Momotani Juntendo, will hold its second POP UP SHOP at JR Kyoto Isetan from Wednesday, November 4 to Tuesday, November 10, 2026.

Timed for the season when skin starts to change, the pop-up offers hands-on experiences — easy to drop into on a trip or a shopping outing.

The popular made-to-order hand cream experience, no reservation needed

The highlight is the hand cream experience that draws queues at the brand’s Kyoto flagship. You choose a texture, a scent and a package that feel right to you, and a staff member, known as a “chef of beauty,” blends a one-of-a-kind hand cream right in front of you.

There are three steps: “touch” (choose the texture), “smell” (choose the scent) and “vision” (choose the package to suit your lifestyle). It takes about 10 minutes and costs ¥2,420 (tax included), covering the experience and the product. At this venue, no reservation is required.

AI skin analysis to build a skincare recipe for you

Another experience is the “Personal Skincare Experience” (free; reservations preferred). After you remove makeup below the eyes, AI skin analysis picks up fine skin concerns that are hard to see in a mirror. Based on the results, staff put together a skincare recipe for your current skin and let you try it through a skin treatment. They also retouch your makeup before you leave, so you can head out afterward.

“Koyuki no Furoshiki,” chosen by Koyuki, in limited numbers

Brand ambassador Koyuki has picked skincare items she finds comfortable, plus a rare fermented tea from an endangered tea variety, and wrapped them in an original furoshiki (wrapping cloth). The set goes on sale in limited numbers: 50 sets, at ¥5,940 (tax included).

Two more limited kits are sold only at JR Kyoto Isetan. One, the “Hand Cream + Scent Kit,” combines the hand cream experience with a box of skin fragrance and a scent tag. It costs ¥5,060 (tax included), and you can choose a favorite scent for each item. The popular “Obi-kuji” fortune experience and the “Kyoto Bimeguri Stamp Rally” also return.

At the Kyoto flagship, a good stop between sights

After the pop-up, you can continue at the flagship shop, CHEF de BEAUTÉ kyoto, in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. Besides hand cream, it offers skincare experiences and a makeup experience built from bone structure. You can also try the “hadakiki” skincare series, the brand’s origin (5 lotions and 4 creams).
