First “Pottery Market” at Herbis in Umeda brings 18 makers linked to Takarazuka’s Mizutamasha, Oct 24–25

For one weekend, you can meet makers hand-picked from across Japan by a tableware shop in Kiyoshikojin, Takarazuka — just a short walk from the stations in Umeda. The “Herbis Pottery Market”, a market of tableware and everyday tools, will be held at Herbis PLAZA ENT in Umeda, Osaka on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026. It is the first edition, with 18 exhibitors including potters and craft shops. Entry is free.

18 makers brought together by Mizutamasha in Kiyoshikojin, Takarazuka

The exhibitors were gathered by Mizutamasha, a shop selling tableware and lifestyle goods in Kiyoshikojin, Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture. It brings together 12 artists it selected while traveling around Japan and six craft shops selling things for everyday life. The market takes place in two spots at Herbis PLAZA ENT: the B2 entrance plaza and the B1 east entrance.

At the Mizutamasha booth, the shop sells tableware on behalf of four makers: 山中正大 from Tokyo, chato from Niigata, Kazuhiro Ashizawa from Shizuoka and Kobo Shishikamu from Okinawa. Kobo Shishikamu is a studio in Okinawa that makes warm, inviting tableware.

The artist booths feature eight makers based in Kansai: momone, ceramicaLABORATORY and mizacosha from Osaka; Kaname Moriwaki and Junko Shindo from Hyogo; 七理摩弓 and Toru Yamashita from Kyoto; and Daisuke Mino from Nara. mizacosha is known for tableware painted with animals, people and dreamlike landscapes, while Mino makes pieces with a focus on texture at his studio in Nara.

Being able to compare tableware from artists all over Kansai in one place in Umeda — without traveling all the way to Kiyoshikojin — is what makes this market special. For tableware lovers, it looks like a good chance to discover makers they do not know yet.

Not just tableware: books, clothes and seasonings too

In the goods booths, five shops cover food, clothing and home: Arpeggio, a bookshop from Osaka; Manmaru Shokudo from Osaka, which sells seasonings and ready-to-eat pouch foods; ikeda satomi from Osaka, who makes stained glass for everyday use; RAINBOWFAM from Hyogo, which handmakes clothing mainly in linen; and OLIVE, an accessory shop from Hyogo.

In addition, the Herbis booth will host Hokuo.Style+1 ANTIKA to Modan., a shop for vintage furniture and homeware, on Saturday, October 24 only.

The venue is about a two-minute walk from the west exit of JR Osaka Station and right by the west exit of Hanshin Osaka-Umeda Station. If you would like some new tableware for your autumn table, it is worth a look.
