Time Out Market Osaka in Umeda Adds Two New Sweets Shops and a Limited Spanish Plate in November

Two new sweets shops open at Time Out Market Osaka, the food hall in Grand Green Osaka in Umeda, this November: the French patisserie “Kitashinchi Célébrité” and the matcha dessert brand “Dojima KITAGAWA.” The hall also has a monthly guest-chef plate and a craft beer pairing night.

Two new sweets shops open on November 10 and 16

First is “Kitashinchi Célébrité,” opening Tuesday, November 10. The patisserie has shops in Kitashinchi, Osaka, and Gion, Kyoto, and is led by pâtissier Takashi Murakami, who trained at the Ritz Escoffier in France and at Lenôtre in Paris. Besides cakes and baked sweets, it offers tartines and lunch dishes, and suits gifts and parties too.

Next, on Monday, November 16, comes “Dojima KITAGAWA,” a new brand built on the idea of “wakon yosai” — keeping Japanese tradition while bringing in Western technique and sensibility. It uses sweet bean paste from the long-established wagashi shop Fukujudo Hidenobu in Tezukayama, Osaka, and Uji matcha from the long-established tea merchant Ujien, under the supervision of chef Seiichiro Nishizono. The lineup includes the “Uji Matcha Brûlée” and the “Uji Matcha Parfait,” which showcases Uji matcha and whole-bean sweet red bean paste, to enjoy in the shop or take home as a gift.

Good for dessert after a meal or a gift on the way out, which makes the food hall even more useful.

November’s chef: Yukio Konishi of El Poniente, with the legendary bar GOZO’s menu revived

“Le Chef du Mois” invites a leading Japanese chef each month. Supervised by Yasushi Karato, executive chef of the Lumière Group and a master of French cuisine, each chef creates a special one-plate meal for the hall, served in a limited run of 100 per day.

In November the guest is chef Yukio Konishi of “El Poniente,” who has led Spanish cooking in Kansai. The menu of “GOZO,” the Spanish bar he once ran in Kitahama, returns for one month only. Nine tapas reflecting regional Spanish food culture — including a Spanish omelet, Russian-style potato salad, and a tomato and olive salad — come with Madrid-style garlic soup and “flamenquín,” a fried roll of pork, ham and cheese.

Chef Konishi says he hopes “first-timers will enjoy it, too.” The chef received the Medal with Yellow Ribbon in 2026, and a plate by him costs 2,000 yen (tax included) — welcome news for anyone stopping by after work.

November 24: a craft beer pairing night

On Tuesday, November 24, 18:30–20:00, the hall holds a four-dish pairing course matching its signature dishes with craft beer from Yo-Ho Brewing. Beers are served one by one with each dish, and staff explain the flavors and why they go together.

The pairings are: fish and chips from “Furai Guys” × Wednesday no Neko; fresh spring rolls from “Kunthep” × Yona Yona Ale; papad snack from “Watanabe Curry” × India no Aooni; and vanilla ice cream from “Julian♡Sucré♡Acid” × Ginga Kogen Beer Wheat Beer.
