Classic Japanese coffee-shop favorites from across the country gather at Hanshin Umeda — “Junkissa Hanshin vol.6” runs Nov 11–16

Six days of coffee-shop hopping are coming to Umeda. From Wednesday, November 11 to Monday, November 16, 2026, “Junkissa Hanshin vol.6” takes place at Shokusai Terrace on the first floor of Hanshin Umeda Main Store in Osaka. Osaka is said to have more independently run kissaten (old-style Japanese coffee shops) than anywhere else in Japan, and this event brings its best-loved ones together with famed kissaten from Kyoto, Tokyo and Nagano.

Three Osaka favorites: pudding, curry and sandwiches

The Osaka lineup is Kissa Lupra (Uehommachi), Kissa Sunshine (Umeda) and Arabiya Coffee (Namba).

Lupra’s “Ice and Caramel Custard Pudding” (¥680 each) is a popular twist on the Vietnamese-style pudding topped with crushed ice. It pairs a pudding baked from equal parts whole egg and egg yolk with coarsely shaved ice, honey and caramel. A drink set is also available (¥1,100 per person).

Sunshine offers its “Special Beef Curry” (¥1,452 per serving), made with Japanese black beef and an original ultra-fine-ground coffee blended in as a spice, and a homemade cola float (¥951 per glass) made with a syrup simmered with four spices. Arabiya Coffee’s highlight is the “Arabiya Sand, Hanshin-exclusive size” (¥1,331 per serving), a sandwich filled with a ham omelet that is also loved in the kabuki world, here made with more than 1.5 times the usual amount of branded eggs. It is sold at 10:00 and 14:00 each day, with 30 planned per sale. Its homemade pudding (¥968 each) is firm and chewy.

Kissaten from Kyoto, Tokyo and Nagano — the lineup changes by date

Out-of-town shops are split between the first and second halves of the run.

From Wednesday, November 11 to Friday, November 13: Kissa Toronto of Iriya, Tokyo (making its first appearance; whipped-cream pudding ¥900, Neapolitan spaghetti ¥1,250), Yamashina Coffee Plaza Marianne of Yamashina, Kyoto (soda parfait ¥1,500, 100 planned per day), and Maeda Coffee of Karasuma, Kyoto (Kyoto-style mousse ¥700, apple pie ¥810).

From Saturday, November 14 to Monday, November 16: Coffee Bigaku Abe of Matsumoto, Nagano (mocha cream au lait ¥1,000, coffee jelly ¥950), Sabouru of Jimbocho, Tokyo (cream soda ¥880 each) and Kissa Soire of Nishi-Kiyamachi, Kyoto. Soire’s jelly punch (¥990) is served with a local soda from Kobe made by the same method for over 100 years. The “Yakai (evening party) jelly punch” (¥990, 80 planned per day), which appears only a few times a year, is also available for this event.

La Vaiture of Okazaki, Kyoto, appears on all six days with its tarte Tatin (¥860, takeout only).

Goods and a talk show, too

Retro original goods will be on sale: scarves from “Watashi no Heya” (¥3,960), stationery from “Asunaro-sha” combining famous kissaten dishes with Sanrio characters, hand-made soft-vinyl figures from KODAMA TOY, a drip-bag coffee assortment from Tajimaya Coffee (¥1,500), and kissaten matchboxes from PLANET.

Talks between the shop owners and super presenter Rina Nanba, as well as a yarn-mascot workshop, will be held from time to time. A message board lets visitors write about their love of kissaten or leave a note for the owners.
