“Nihon Ryori Naniwa” opens Nov 1 on the 25th floor of a Sakai hotel, serving Kansai-style sukiyaki with Osaka Umebeef

A Kansai-style sukiyaki dinner with a night view over Sakai is on the way. Hotel Agora Regency Osaka Sakai (Sakai-ku, Sakai City, Osaka) will open the Japanese restaurant “Nihon Ryori Naniwa” on its 25th floor on Sunday, November 1, 2026. The star of the menu is Kansai-style sukiyaki made with Osaka Umebeef.

Kansai-style sukiyaki with Osaka Umebeef, started for you by the staff

The centerpiece is Kansai-style sukiyaki (beef simmered at the table) made with Osaka Umebeef. The staff cook the first slice for you, so you can focus on the beef itself rather than on how to cook it.

An example course: a basket of appetizers and sashimi, sukiyaki vegetables and Osaka Umebeef; at right, beef being cooked and a window table with a night view

For a final accent, the dish comes with shichimi (seven-spice blend) and sansho (Japanese pepper) from Yamatsu Tsujita, a Japanese spice maker founded in 1902 (Meiji 35). Pairing spices handed down by a long-established Sakai maker with the hotel’s sukiyaki is presented as a way of bringing Sakai’s food culture to the table.

Two courses: shoulder loin or loin

There are two courses, differing in the cut of beef. “Nishiki Standard,” made with Osaka Umebeef shoulder loin, is ¥8,000 per person; “Nishiki Premium,” made with Osaka Umebeef loin, is ¥10,000 per person. Prices include service charge and consumption tax. Both courses run through the same dishes: a basket of appetizers and sashimi, sukiyaki, vegetables, udon, rice, red miso soup, pickles and sherbet to finish. Since only the cut changes, it is easy to choose Premium for an anniversary and Standard for a regular get-together.

A Japanese-cuisine dining room, different from teppanyaki

Naniwa opens as a new place to enjoy the appeal of Japanese cuisine, distinct from teppanyaki. It is meant for occasions from celebrations to dinners with someone special. A window seat overlooking the Sakai cityscape looks like a good fit for a long, unhurried conversation.
