After work in Sakaisuji-Honmachi, Osaka, you can compare hiyaoroshi, sake that has been aged through the summer. Kaki to Kaisen Nihon-ichi Sakaisuji-Honmachi (an oyster and seafood izakaya, or Japanese pub) has added four autumn sakes, mainly hiyaoroshi and akiagari, to its sake tasting all-you-can-drink plan. The plan already offers more than 50 sakes for ¥2,750 (tax included) per person, with a two-hour limit.
Four new bottles, including two from Kansai breweries
The four sakes now included are:
- Kid Junmai Ginjo Hiyaoroshi (Heiwa Shuzo, Wakayama)
- Banshu Ikkon Junmai Ginjo Hiyaoroshi (Sanyo Hai Shuzo, Hyogo)
- Tokai Zakari Junmai Ginjo “Susuki” (Koizumi Shuzo, Chiba)
- Yonetsuru Kappa Tokubetsu Junmai Akiagari (Yonetsuru Shuzo, Yamagata)
Two of them come from Wakayama and Hyogo, so Kansai drinkers get to try local breweries too.

According to the restaurant, Kid has a gentle ginjo aroma and a softly swelling umami, and is recommended even for people trying hiyaoroshi for the first time. Banshu Ikkon is made with Yamada Nishiki rice from Harima, with richness and acidity joined by the mellow umami of aging. The restaurant says that tasting it next to Kid shows how different two hiyaoroshi can be.
Tokai Zakari “Susuki” is described as having a mellow, gentle drinkability thanks to low-temperature aging after pasteurization. For dry-sake fans there is Yonetsuru’s “Kappa”, billed as extra dry. Whether you want full-bodied umami or a crisp dry finish, you can choose by mood.
Pairing with oysters and seafood
The restaurant’s signature is oysters, along with sashimi generously piled with fresh seafood. It suggests first checking the aroma and mouthfeel of the sake on its own, then taking a bite of food and going back to the sake — the impression may change once food is in the mix.
You don’t need to know brands. The restaurant’s view is that sake opens up from feelings like “I like this softness” or “I like this aftertaste”, and it added these four for people curious about hiyaoroshi or wanting to try something beyond their usual brand.

The restaurant is a one-minute walk from Sakaisuji-Honmachi Station and works for everything from a drink after work to a relaxed group dinner. It has 112 seats, mostly at tables, and is open 17:00–25:00 (last order 24:30), so it is easy to drop in late.
