A festival that gathers popular bakeries from across Japan under one roof is finally coming to Umeda, Osaka. “Pan no Fes 2026 in Umekita Park” (pan means bread) will be held at Umekita Park (Rohto Heart Square Umekita) in Grand Green Osaka from Friday, December 11 to Sunday, December 13, 2026. The first 40 bakeries have just been announced, and tickets with extra perks are now on sale.

A bread festival that began in Yokohama in 2016

Pan no Fes is jointly organized by Pia and Nippan Segmo, which runs the “Pansherge” bread-lover certification exam. It began at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse in 2016 and has since traveled from Hokkaido to Kyushu, drawing more than 1.78 million visitors in total. This first Osaka edition lets you choose from famous bakeries nationwide, ones you rarely get to meet, all in one place over three days.

Two past Grand Prix winners come to Umeda

The highlight is the appearance of two bakeries that won the Grand Prix at the Pan no Fes Awards.

One is “Bakery Penny Lane” from Nasu, Tochigi, the Grand Prix winner of the Pan no Fes Awards 2025. Its signature Blueberry Bread has sold up to 1,000 loaves in a day. The other is “Pan Koubou Guruguru” from Naka, Ibaraki. Its “Okukuji Egg Creamy Cream Bread” has sold 30,000 pieces in a month, and the bakery is the first to win the awards’ Grand Prix twice.

The first 40 bakeries come from all over Japan, including “Kitakitsune no Shippo” in Sapporo and “Kanompan” in Kamakura. From Kansai, the lineup includes “ANDE”, “京都・梅鶯堂” and “BoulangerieOPERA Kyoto” in Kyoto, “PAPAN TREE” (a Taiwanese bread specialist) in Osaka, “Awaji Island Shio Pan Specialty Shop Shioki” and “Maison Fleurir” in Wakayama. Some bakeries appear only on the 11th or only on the 13th, so check the dates of your favorites in advance. Bakeries and dates may change.

“Rock’n’Roll” is a soft dough rolled with homemade cinnamon paste and topped with crumble. The “Shogun Coffee and Okukuji Egg Creamy Cream Bread” combines Saza Coffee’s Shogun coffee with a creamy filling made with Okukuji eggs, and is described as tasting like a café latte.
